Princeton Elementary Parents Warned of Winfield Road Closure Monday
Local traffic in the Haughton and Princeton area will have to make some adjustments while road construction is being performed for the next month.

According to a Facebook post from the Bossier Parish Police Jury, beginning this coming Monday, February 23, Winfield Road in north Bossier Parish will need to be closed while crews perform a railroad bore to install a new water main and replace the drainage pipe beneath the roadway.
The closure will take place at the railroad crossing on Winfield Road near its intersection with Cooper Road and Hawkins Road and will remain in place until approximately March 14, 2026. Of course the timeline for the closure could be extended in the event that inclement weather causes delays to the work schedule.

This closure will certainly be problematic for any parents and buses for school-aged children who live west of the closure and attend Princeton Elementary School.
For that reason, the Bossier Parish Police Jury has suggested the following alternate detour routes to help navigate the area during this time of closure.
Here are the detours they suggest:
- From the east: Highway 80 → Wafer Road → Winfield Road
- From the west: Bellevue Road → Winfield Road
According to the Facebook posting, "If work proceeds as scheduled and boring is completed by Friday, March 6, crews will use the following week to backfill and replace asphalt as required by specifications so the roadway can safely reopen to traffic."
