Notice of the upcoming road project on Benton Road in Bossier City was late in coming, but getting the heads up about the delays a couple of weeks ago probably wouldn't have made things any better.

Truth be told, any work on Benton Road, which is one of Bossier City's most traveled north/south routes, is going to cause some traffic issues and it's of little consequence when we learned of it.

However, in a notice late yesterday afternoon, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advised all motorists that beginning today, Wednesday, February 4, there will be intermittent lane closures on a section of LA 3 (Benton Road) in Bossier City as part of an ongoing project to provide concrete panel repairs.

This notice goes on to state that these closures between LA 73 (Old Minden Rd) and Viking Drive from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily, and are necessary to allow the contractor to clean and apply permanent roadway striping on the project length.

In an answer as to why this work cannot be completed during reduced traffic times, DOTD writes that, "Because striping is highly weather dependent, this work is being conducted during the daytime to ensure temperatures are warm enough to allow the striping to properly bond to the pavement."

This work is anticipated to wrap up in early March 2026, weather and other factors permitting.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
