A Shreveport man was arrested yesterday following a shooting that left a woman seriously injured.

Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a woman who had been shot at a convenience store on Linwood Avenue. Deputies got to the scene along with Caddo Fire District 6 and found a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head.

The shooting happened after an argument that took place earlier in the day at a home on Linwood Avenue. During the argument, 24 year-old Dylan West allegedly armed himself with a firearm and shot the victim in the head. Despite her injuries, the victim was able to drive herself to the nearby store to get help.

West ran away from the crime scene but he was found later by Deputies and was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

From CPSO:

"The victim was transported by Fire District 6 to Ochsner Health, 1501 Kings Highway, in Shreveport, for treatment. No update on her condition is available at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing."
