BrucePac, a food processing company based in Durant, Oklahoma, is recalling nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacteria.
The recalled items were produced between June 19 and October 8, 2024, and distributed nationwide to restaurants and institutions. Consumers are advised to check for establishment numbers “51205 or P-51205” under the USDA inspection mark.
The contamination was found during routine FSIS testing of BrucePac’s RTE poultry products, which tested positive for Listeria. Although no illnesses have been reported, the bacteria can cause serious infections, especially in older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and people with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues. Severe cases can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or life-threatening infections. Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms after consuming these products should seek medical attention.
