A warning has been issued about ground beef possibly sold in Shreveport. The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for the beef sold in Louisiana and across the nation.

You might want to check your fridge and freezer for this meat. The product has not been recalled because it’s no longer on shelves in our grocery stores.

Why Was the Public Health Alert Issued for this Ground Beef?

The USDA says some of the products from Organic Rancher is believed to be contaminated with E. Coli. This meat was sold at Whole Foods Stores in Louisiana. E. Coli can cause serious health problems.

What Meat Is Impacted by this Health Alert?

This ground beef has dates of May 22, 2025 and May 23, 2025. It includes:

  • 1-lb. vacuum-packed packages of "ORGANIC RANCHER ORGANIC GROUND BEEF 85% LEAN 15% FAT" with "Use or Freeze By 06-19-25" and "Use or Freeze By 06-20-25" as represented on the packaging.

What Medical Problems Can E. Coli Cause?

You could experience dehydration, bloody diarrhea or abdominal cramping. Most of these medical issues will go away in about a week. But some people might have more serious symptoms and could need medical attention.

So far, the USDA reports no illnesses from this ground beef.
