Meteorologist Steve Parr talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Greg Atoms about perceived similarities between present day Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005.
Parr tells KEEL listeners that, despite early similarities in direction, Katrina was a small tropical storm when it was approaching Florida the way Cat 5 Hurricane Irma is now. Parr explains the science involved, and the higher probability, in correctly predicting the path of massive storm like Irma.
