The Red River District was hopping all weekend. In fact, it was so packed Saturday night, police had to close it off to any more new guests. The Red River District reached maximum capacity.

SPD sent out this message: “Please avoid the areas as we work to keep the major thoroughfares open. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

And the G-Dome was sold out and at full capacity.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux tells KEEL News this was a very successful event. He says we learned a lot this weekend about hosting future events in the Red River District. He says we will be able to provide security for the area as more businesses decide to locate in the area.

At least one downtown business owner says this event hurt his business as his patrons could not get to his nightclub. Mayor Arceneaux responded to that criticism by saying "sometime when you have these events it creates competition that perhaps
will hurt somebody. We regret any loss of business, but on the whole it was a wonderful, successful event."

Did Anything Go Wrong at Humor and Harmony Festival?

Mayor Arceneaux says "we did have to close off the Red River District at about 1am Sunday morning because we had such a large crowd. Anytime you have a crowd that large, you have a few knuckleheads. We had a few knuckleheads, but we took care of em quietly, respectfully and effectively."

The Mayor also sends kudos to the Shreveport City team that put this plan together along with the G-unit team. He says that worked hard to make sure this was a successful event for the City of Shreveport and "by golly it looks like it was."
