How Louisiana Residents Can Help the Cajun Navy Relief Efforts

As Hurricane Milton approaches the east coast of Florida, residents are still in the midst of cleanup efforts after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Helene made landfall in the panhandle of Florida, then moved north through Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and into Kentucky, leaving a path of destruction that included hundreds of thousands without power, the loss of homes, businesses, entire communities, and a death toll of more than 227 people.
The response from the federal government has been slow leaving thousands of Americans in dire need of assistance. Organizations like Samaritan's Purse and the American Red Cross responded quickly, providing much needed supplies and essentials, but the need is still critical.
One organization from Louisiana has volunteers on the ground trying to make a difference, and they are asking for your help. David Howell, Supply Director for the Cajun Navy Relief told KEEL News:
One of the biggest needs we're seeing is cold weather gear. As the hurricane has impacted all of these people, the weather is starting to turn and we're looking at temperatures starting to get into the 30's soon here at night. These people have lost everything, they don't have that warm weather gear that they would normally have for those colder temperatures.
How Can You Help Hurricane Victims?
Howell said there are two really good ways to donate.
The first way is to fill out one of the donation tickets if you want to donate supplies on our website, and that is CAJUNNAVYRELIEF.ORG. Another way is to donate money. Any money that we receive at the moment we're trying to push back into these communities, so that we can then help them in their long-term efforts of rebuilding and getting back to normal.
Another great way to help is to buy items on the Cajun Navy Relief Wish List on AMAZON. When you make a purchase on the wish list, the items get sent directly to the Cajun Navy Relief organization for immediate distribution to those in need.
