A fight with his live-in girlfriend lands a Haughton man in jail. Bossier sheriff's deputies say 26-year-old Demond Kinnard admitted to detectives that he got into a fight with his girlfriend, leaving scratches on her face and knees, and swelling to her eyes and knees. At one point, he grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground, causing several clumps of her hair to come out. He was booked into the Bossier Maximum Correctional Facility on a domestic abuse battery charge.

A statement from Sheriff Larry Deen:

"With Thanksgiving upon us and Christmas approaching, I want to remind everyone of the joy of the holiday season. However, stress levels tend to increase during this time of year, often leading to tension in the home and arguing and fighting. Alcohol and drugs tend to accentuate the problem. People need to learn to stop, walk away and seek counsel from a friend, pastor or counselor, before a situation escalates to the point of violence...or even [death]."
