Man Pleads Guilty to Domestic Violence Charges in Caddo Court
A Shreveport man went to trial for domestic violence on Wednesday (2/12/25) and ended up pleading guilty before the trial began.
42-year-old Barkalski Clark was on trial for 2 counts of domestic abuse. The abuse was against someone Clark was in a relationship with.
One charge was aggravated assault of a dating partner, for which Clark could be sentenced to prison for up to five years at hard labor. The second charge was battery of a dating partner with serious bodily injury, and could be sentenced up to eight years at hard labor. Sentencing is set for March 12, 2025.
The first charge happened in June 2023. Clark planned an attack against a person he was in a relationship with by hiding on the side of the partner's house and waiting for them to get home. Once the victim showed up at the house, Clark followed them inside and at some point pulled a knife during the attack.
The second charge happened in May of 2023. Clark had it out for the same woman, when he punched her several times in the face causing many injuries including a broken nose.
Clark pleaded guilty to both, and is waiting for sentencing.
From Caddo District Court:
"The victim refused to participate in the prosecution, but the state obtained medical records and photos that would have allowed the trial to go forward, even without the victim."
