
Investigation Leads to Gun and Drug Arrest of Shreveport Man
Yesterday, the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT) responded to several complaints of two men in possession of firearms.
While watching the Stone Vista Apartments, VCAT members observed two men who appeared to be in possession of guns. Due to the nature of the complaints, assistance was called in from the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office and the Shreveport Police Department Warrants Unit.
Once back up got to the scene, the two men were seen leaving the apartment complex and walking along Easy Street. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspects, at which point both men took off running.
One man, 27 year-old Quintravius Winbush, was taken down after a brief chase. Winbush was in possession of a loaded gun and marijuana. The second man was seen discarding a .233 caliber semi-automatic pistol during the chase but was not caught. That firearm was recovered by officers.
Winbush was transported to the Shreveport City Jail and charged with the following:
· Possession of Marijuana Greater Than 14 Grams
· Resisting an Officer
· Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with Controlled Dangerous Substances
