The Holiday in Dixie Festival, now in its 63rd year, kicks off this weekend in downtown Shreveport's Festival Plaza. And spokeswoman Monica Lawrence says it features all the favorites -- the treasure hunt, the carnival and Shreveport's longest-running parade -- which is going on at 5:30 Saturday evening. Admission to the carnival is free this year -- and there's plenty of live music to enjoy. It's all going on in celebration of the Louisiana Purchase. Visit the Holiday in Dixie website to find out band lineups and carnival hours. By the way, the first clue in the $1,500 Holiday in Dixie Treasure Hunt will be released tomorrow evening.
