We count him as a "Shreveport guy" for sure. He's not "from here" as in born in the Ark-La-Tex, he actually wasn't born in Louisiana at all. He didn't grow up here, he didn't play high school football here. But Doug Pederson did play his college football at Northeast Louisiana, now known as Louisiana-Monroe, and he coached high school football in Shreveport.

That's right, Super Bowl Champion Head Coach Doug Pederson got his first Head Coach gig in Shreveport. He became the Head Coach at Calvary Baptist Academy in 2005, and remained in that position until 2008. At Calvary, Pederson took a brand new program into the LHSAA playoffs all four years he was the coach. His final record as coach in Shreveport was 33-7...not too bad.

Of course, he's best known for being the guy who finally got the Philadelphia Eagles a Super Bowl win in 2017. He was the coach in Philly from 2016 to 2020, leaving the franchise with a 42-37-1 record, with three trips to the NFL playoffs. But he was let go after the 2020 season.

He didn't get back to the NFL sidelines in 2021, but was able to find a new opportunity this season.

In February of 2022, Pederson was hired as the new Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. A franchise who has have very few glimpses of hope over the last 20 years. But they have a player they believe will be their franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, and some offensive weapons the team spent money on. With a guy that has proven he can win at the NFL level, it might be what the team needs.

In fact, just three games into his tenure as the Jaguars Head Coach, Pederson is now in their record book as one of the coaches with the Top 5 Most Wins in franchise history.

Yes, three games in, and he's in the Top 5.

After this weekend's Jaguars 38-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers (on the road), Pederson has now won 2 of his first 3 games. Here are the coaches with the most wins in Jaguars history

#1(tie) - Tom Coughlin: 68 wins
#1(tie) - Jack Del Rio: 68 wins
#3 - Doug Marrone: 23 wins
#4 - Gus Bradley: 14 wins
#5(tie) - Doug Pederson: 2 wins
#5(tie) - Mel Tucker: 2 wins
#5(tie) - Mike Mularkey: 2 wins
#5(tie) - Urban Meyer: 2 wins

At some point this year, Pederson will obviously take sole possession of the #5 spot on the list. Maybe the most interesting part of this whole thing is that after 3 games, Pederson has as many wins as the man he replaced. Urban Meyer had a lot of fanfare when he was named the Jags Head Coach, but ended up getting just 2 wins in 13 tries with the Jags before being shamefully moved out of the franchise.

So yeah, it's kind of a joke, but its also definitely a good thing if you're a Jaguars fan...or a Doug Pederson fan.
