A former church treasurer has been arrested for theft. The Caddo Sheriff's Office says 31-year-old Demario Thomas of Rodessa turned himself in after a detective got a warrant for his arrest on a forgery charge. He's accused of writing more than 100 checks to himself between April 2010 and October 2012 while he served as treasurer of the First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Total amount bilked out of the church was over $31,000. Detectives say the majority of the checks were cashed, but many were deposited directly into Thomas' personal account.
