Forecasters Predict Snow for Shreveport Week of Christmas
Living in the South, I Have Only Experienced One White Christmas.
I will forever remember having Christmas dinner at my brother's home with all of his kids and wife and my niece Vivian said "Is it snowing?". You could hear the forks hit the plates and we all left our dinner on the table to run around outside. We were all screaming "It's snowing it's snowing!". It's forever an amazing Christmas memory. The feel-good Christmas movies have convinced me that I need to see snow to truly enjoy Christmas.
Some Forecasters are Saying We Could See Snow Christmas Week.
Imagine my surprise when I saw an article claiming that snow could be coming to our area. According to a report from NOLA.com "Temperatures in New Orleans and Baton Rouge are expected to be in the 40s and 50s through the weekend. Meanwhile, Shreveport and Lafayette could dip into the 30s, forecasters said."
"Louisiana north of Interstate 20 which connects Shreveport, Ruston, Monroe, and Vicksburg has the greatest chance for a wintry mix late Sunday into Monday morning, forecasters at the Shreveport office said Tuesday. But, the current forecast doesn't include significant accumulation."
Does This Mean That We Will Have a White Christmas in Shreveport?
Not really. The projected system seems to be making its way on Thursday or Friday. That will bring the wintery mix however it may not be enough to stick and if it does stick the odds are it will disappear by Christmas. For now, let us wait and see what crazy Louisiana weather we will experience on Christmas day.
