The Bi-State Narcotics Task Force has identified the dangerous drug that's been circulating through the Texarkana area.

The task force has been investigating the drug, which has resulted in several overdoses reported in the area. What they've figured out is that the highly-dangerous drug is called Phenazepam.

The Arkansas State Health Department says the synthetic drug, developed in the Soviet Union, is used to treat neurological disorders, like epilepsy, and mimics the effects of Xanax. Side effects of using the drug include dizziness, loss of coordination, severe anxiety...even death.

People have been illegally buying or getting the drug from friends or acquaintances on the street. It's been banned by the Arkansas Attorney General because of the severe medical problems it causes. Authorities are still looking for whoever's been distributing it...call them if you have any information that will help.
