Cyndi Lauper & Michael McDonald Performed In Shreveport This Week
Its true. All of that social media buzz around Shreveport and Bossier about music icons Cyndi Lauper and Michael McDonald playing in Shreveport last week is all true.
The party was celebrate the 40th anniversary of Metro Aviation, and took place in Downtown Shreveport. To celebrate their founding in 1982, the company took it back to the 80s with a huge party. Including two 80s music legends...
Metro Aviation describes their company on their website as:
"Metro Aviation was incorporated in 1982 as a helicopter charter, flight training and maintenance operation. Our entry into the air medical service business came in November 1983 with two used Hughes 500-D model helicopters, when Metro Aviation entered into a long-term agreement to provide helicopter ambulance service for Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana."
Their party lifted off too. Not only did Lauper and McDonald perform, but Louisiana music legends The Molly Ringwalds got in on the action, even getting to lend back up to McDonald...
Both Lauper and McDonald are Grammy Award winners, and while Lauper is featured inside the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, unlike McDonald, she is not enshrined. Both have sold millions of albums in their careers, and are recognized as pioneers in their sound.
Looking back at this week, its not uncommon for artists as big as Lauper and McDonald to play concerts in the Shreveport and Bossier area. Whether its at the Municipal or an arena show in Bossier, we see big name acts come through town. What is pretty uncommon is to have a couple of legendary musicians perform on top of a building in Downtown Shreveport for a private event!
Congrats to Metro Aviation on 40 years, and congrats to everyone who pulled of an insane event like this in Shreveport. May your legend live on forever!
