Council Vote on $7 Garbage Fee Coming Today [VIDEO]
Shreveport City Councilwoman LeVette Fuller talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the council's vote - expected today (Tuesday, March 26) - on the proposed $7 monthly garbage fee.
Fuller tells KEEL listeners that she expects the legislation to pass, but not with her backing. "I think it is (going to pass)." says the District B rep, "But it won't be because of me. At this number ($7) it doesn't cover the cost of creating the enterprise fund. So it doesn't pay for itself." Fuller also reiterates a previous objection to the fee, saying that she (and other council members) has not received a detailed plan from Mayor Adrian Perkins about how the approximately $5 million freed up from the city's general budget would be spent.
Hear Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty weekday mornings from 6 til 9 on 101.7 / 710 KEEL, or by downloading the free KEEL app, presented by Office Furniture Source.
