50 Cent’s Charity Issues De-escalation Statement Surrounding Donation Beef
Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson recently made substantial financial donations to 9 domestic violence organizations operating in the Shreveport area. To announce the donations, 50 Cent even made the trip to Shreveport to personally be a part of it.
Following the announcement of these funds, some pockets of local community members voiced concerns, questions, and even dissatisfaction with the donations. From government halls to social media comment sections, various voices floated conspiracy theories about the money, or shared their concern on how the receiving organizations were selected. 50 Cent responded on social media expressing confusion, and disappointment, over the negative reactions, stating "WTF" in a message to address the situation.
After that first post, 50 Cent followed up with another...more direct...post about where he felt the ire was coming from. Without specifically naming him, it appeared obvious that 50 Cent directed the post towards Shreveport City Councilman Alan Jackson. Using the name 'Alan' and an edit of the Councilman's official city photo in the post.

Councilman Jackson subsequently issued a public statement addressing the situation, and questioning the foundation funding process.
G-Unity Foundation Releases Official Statement
Which brings us to today. The philanthropic organization published a formal response to address the ongoing discussion. The document outlined numerous ways donations have been made across the country, not just in Shreveport. The full text provided by the foundation regarding the domestic violence donations and the selection of these charities reads as follows...
"A STATEMENT FROM THE G-UNITY FOUNDATION:
The G-Unity Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charitable organization primarily personally funded by Curtis 50 Cent Jackson.
For more than 20 years, G-Unity has supported and administered programs that foster conscious capitalism as well as social and leadership skills for youth nationwide.
We work with and in Communities, we provide direct support to At-Risk Youth and we partner with reputable 501(c)(3) foundations nationwide including the philanthropic arms of ten (10) Professional Sports Teams in the NBA, NFL, MLB and the NHL.
In Houston, Texas, we fund and administer the G-Unity Business Lab program with six (6) High Schools in partnership with the Houston Independent School District.
Every year, G-Unity also donates thousands of Thanksgiving meals for families in multiple cities. G-Unity also provided food support to families who experienced delays in receiving SNAP benefits.
Recently, funds were personally donated by Curtis Jackson through G-Unity to nine (9) charitable organizations in Shreveport, Louisiana that actively work in the domestic violence space, aiding families, children and victims of abuse.
These charities were selected from a group of written applications submitted in accordance with our long-standing policies. Not all submissions made to G-Unity were approved. These nine (9) charities were selected because they are committed to helping EVERYONE in Shreveport, not just a specific area or neighborhood.
While we are surprised to hear that these generous donations stirred heated discussion and controversy, we are encouraged to learn there is so much interest in philanthropy within the City of Shreveport and beyond.
We would love nothing more than for G-Unity to inspire philanthropists to connect with local 501 (c)(3) charities in need of financial support in Shreveport and beyond.
To that end, we encourage everyone reading this message to visit our website, learn more about what we do, consider donating or volunteering to support our Mission, and submit applications to partner with us.
While the funds G-Unity has to donate are limited due to the programs we currently support, we are always willing to partner and help shed light on the positive things being done by others.
For more information and to make a donation, please visit www.gunityfoundation.org and be sure to add and follow us on social media!"
The statement highlighted their work with pro sports teams in the NBA, NFL, MLB and the NHL. While also mentioning their work in Texas, and Shreveport.
Resolution To The Shreveport Funding Dispute
The release of this formal document appears to finalize the public exchange between the foundation and local city officials. No immediate responses have been issued following this publication today (so far).
So the immediate situation regarding these local funds, and the resulting public debate, is completely resolved...for now.
