Daniel Erspamer, Chief Executive Officer of free market think tank the Pelican Institute, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his organization's upcoming "Solutions Summit."

The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, January 30 in Baton Rouge. Those attending will "engage with policy and legislative leaders from Louisiana and across the country to learn about actionable and proven solutions to the policy issues currently preventing quality jobs and opportunity in Louisiana."

Erspamer also tells KEEL listeners that the upcoming legislative session gives free market conservatives a chance to point the state in a new direction. The Pelican CEO says there are, in his mind, three priorities that lawmakers must address. "Legal reform," he says, "We have to tackle lawsuit abuse, we have to tackle our broken legal system." He continues, "The second thing is budget. Our budget has grown more than 20% in the past five years." And Erspamer's third priority "is making sure our education reform agenda stays all eyes forward."
