One of William Shakespeare's most beloved plays (and probably his most tragic love story) is being brought to the modern day when two local schools join forces on the Marjorie Lyons stage.

Centenary College's Department of Theatre and Captain Shreve High School's Theatre Performance Team have teamed up to create a fast-paced, violent, sexy production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. While the script has been significantly trimmed, Shakespeare's original language still drives this timeless story to its fateful end.

Set in 2016 urban America, Shakespeare's story is truthfully told by a racially diverse cast of both Centenary College and Captain Shreve High School students. This production combines multi-media with live theatre to build today's modern world for the star-crossed lovers.

Romeo and Juliet is directed by Heather Peak Hooper. Rounding out the production team is: stage combat choreography created by Andrew Dylan Ray, set design by Don Hooper, the light designer is Courtney Gaston, and costumes designed by Julia Eckelkamp.

All tickets are $5.00. Performances will be on Centenary’s campus at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse. Performance dates and times are Nov. 10-12 and 17-19 all at 7:30. There will be a 2:00 matinee performance Sunday, Nov. 13th.
