United States Senator Bill Cassidy talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his recent trip to the Texas - Mexico border and tour of detention facilities where illegal immigrants temporarily held.

Cassidy refutes claims by Congressional Democrats that there is widespread mistreatment of those being detained and vehemently rejects accusations by those on the left, specifically New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, that the centers are the equivalent of Nazi concentration camps.

The Senator is also highly critical of Democrats who have opposed extra funding for the facilities, saying they are refusing to help those housed there and making treating the crisis at the border as a political ploy.

"Democrats in Washington have called the crisis on our southern border manufactured. I can tell you it is real, and it is urgent. This week I was in McAllen, Texas. I spoke with the men and women of Customs and Border Patrol who are doing a great job, but they are stretched thin. They have limited resources and they need help."
