This week, 75 people were booked and kept at Caddo Correctional Center for various crimes.
One of those arrested was put behind bars for indecent behavior with juveniles.
The Caddo Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit has arrested a man from DeSoto Parish for sex crimes involving a juvenile.
On October 2, deputies from the CPSO began investigating a case of sexual misconduct involving a minor that occurred between 2015 and 2017. They reached out to CPSO's Special Victims Unit, which conducted an interview with the suspect, 67-year-old Jimmy Wendt.
Following a thorough investigation, Detectives were able to get a warrant for Wendt's arrest on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.
Wendt was arrested and taken to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the charges mentioned above. The investigation is ongoing.
Another was taken in after being involved in the huge fight Downtown on Halloween night.
Five individuals believed to be responsible for a recent downtown fight have been located and arrested following a targeted investigation. The arrests resulted from a joint effort between the Shreveport Police Department, Probation & Parole, and multiple police units.
Of the five arrested, three were found to be on active probation at the time of the incident. Jacorey Wesley, Demarcus Eiland, and Aaron Small are being held on an additional probation violation and are currently being held without bond pending further legal action.
Shreveport Police Chief Vows Zero Tolerance for Violence
Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith issued a strong statement regarding the incident and the department's commitment to public safety.
“Make no mistake — we will not tolerate violence in our downtown,” said Chief Smith. “These five chose to bring fear and disorder to a place meant for families, businesses and visitors.”
He commended the speed and diligence of the law enforcement personnel involved. “Our detectives worked around the clock, with help from Probation & Parole and specialized units, to identify and locate those responsible"
Chief Smith also stressed the department's intent to be forthcoming about the perpetrators. “Where appropriate and consistent with policy, we will be transparent with the community about who brought this disruption to our streets. Those who commit crimes in Shreveport will face the full, lawful consequences of their actions.”
All those pictured are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
