Caddo Coroner Names Shreveport’s 5th Homicide Victim of 2024
A man shot and mortally wounded in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood Friday, January 19, 2024, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Derrick Taylor, 42, of Peach Street in Shreveport, was shot in the abdomen around 7 p.m. following an argument at a residence in the 2900 block of 5th Street. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital where he succumbed to his wound at 7:41 p.m.

He was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.
Mr. Taylor's death marks the 5th homicide in Shreveport and Caddo Parish to date in 2024. The slaying remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.
An autopsy was ordered.
