Teachers will receive $2500 more a year while support workers are being given a 4.75% increase. This will bring starting pay for teachers in Bossier Parish to more than 52 thousand a year.

During the Thursday meeting, the board voted unanimously to "approve the largest permanent pay raise in its history without passage of a bond, making Bossier Schools one of the most highly paid systems among its neighboring districts and in the state. "

When Will Teachers Get the Increase?

This pay boost goes into effect when the new school year starts later this year.
The price tag for these increases is $10.6 million a year. This amount also takes into account the retirement costs and step increases in the future. This extra money is coming from increases sales taxes and restructuring property tax millages in the past.
