Bossier Police Say Viral “Abduction” At WalMart Didn’t Happen

A moment at the WalMart on Airline Drive in Bossier City went viral online last night. But just hours after thousands of local internet users shared versions of the story, police stated that the alleged incident didn't happen.

The alleged incident happened at the WalMart location at 2536 Airline Drive in Bossier City. Around 7:30pm on Wednesday February, 1st, police were called to the store on a suspicious persons report. According to reports, police then met with the 23-year-old woman who was at the center of the report.

She told officers that she was followed by "three adult Hispanic males" inside the store. Online reports said the woman told police that the three men attempted to grab her and take her from the store. The unconfirmed online reports stated that WalMart employees witnessed the interaction, and that other witnesses ran to the area to confront the men.

These unsubstantiated online reports said the Bossier Police had taken one of the men into custody.

Comments on the posts escalated to violent statements, and even contained accusations of racism.

But once the Bossier City Police Department was able to review the video footage captured by security cameras inside the store, they issued a statement that contradicted the initial reports. Bossier Police investigators said none of the men accused "behaved in a manner consistent with the description provided by the woman". They were all cleared of any wrongdoing on-site.

No word on whether or not the woman will face any charges potentially related to a false report. But Bossier Police say the investigation is ongoing.
