Bossier City now has a new City Attorney. Charles Jacobs was approved unanimously by the Bossier City Council during a special meeting on Thursday.

The council delayed a vote earlier this week, but members of the council reached an agreement with Mayor Tommy Chandler and called the special meeting to move forward with this appointment.

Jacobs has been a District Court Judge in Bossier Parish, but he has stepped down from the bench to take the City Attorney post. The council also unanimously approved the re-hiring of Assistant City Attorney appointee Richard Ray.

Jacobs is getting to work immediately. But there has still been no action on the appointment of Shane Cheatham as CAO. The council is expected to take another look at that nomination in 2 weeks.

Chandler thanked the council for coming together to appoint these two men to the city's legal staff. He says "we are going to have difficult times, but we are going to work it out together because all of us want Bossier City to be a better place and I thank all of y'all for working together for these two great men."
