With the Air Show going on at Barksdale Air Force Base this weekend, there will also be some traffic rerouting. When the gates to Barksdale open at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, traffic entering the base will run its normal route. But when the air show ends each day, all four lanes of traffic at the Shreveport Gate -- also known as the West Gate -- on Barksdale Boulevard will be designated for outbound traffic only. That'll start at abour 4 each afternoon. Traffic flow for exiting vehicles at the Bossier Gate, or North Gate, won't change. Additional Bossier City police officers will be stationed at Barksdale Boulevard and Westgate Lane -- and other intersections -- to help traffic entering and exiting the base move as quickly and safely as possible, but they do encourage motorists to be patient.
