The Barksdale Air Force Base Defenders of Liberty Air Show is this weekend, April 21st and 22nd -- and, as is usually the case, that means some traffic re-routing. The Bossier City Police Department will be out in force to help minimize traffic congestion for folks attending the air show. When the gates to Barksdale open at 9 both mornings, traffic entering the base will run its normal route. When the air show ends each day, all four lanes of traffic at the base's Shreveport Gate, also known as the West Gate, will be designated for outbound traffic ONLY. That is expected to go into effect as early as 3 p.m. both days and remain that way until most of the traffic has exited the base. Traffic exiting other gates will flow as normal. Motorists NOT going to the air show are advised that there may be delays, particularly on Barksdale Boulevard, while the air show is going on. Police recommend you utilize Arthur Ray Teague Parkway as an alternate route.
