A Sad Anniversary Turns Into a Big Advancement for LSU Health
Today's a date the Touchstone family will never forget. One year ago today, Rachel Touchstone -- who was 32 weeks pregnant -- was driving to work, when a car accident sent her to LSU Health Shreveport's ER.
Her baby, Sarah Claire, was born via emergency C-section and lived only 36 hours in the NICU. When asking about the best way to give back to honor their daughter, the Touchstones learned of the need for a new Infant Transporter -- an updated system that would give LSU Health the added ability to transport neonates by air. So they held a "Run for Sarah" event which raised about $150,000 and made that need a reality. It's being dedicated at 2 o'clock this afternoon at LSU Health.
