Two men from Brownsville, Texas, are sentenced for conspiring to transport about 28 kilograms of powder cocaine.

According to U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley, in February 2015, 28-year-old Ricardo Garcia and 34-year-old Jesus Martinez were pulled over by Louisiana State Police on I-20 E in Bossier Parish. The vehicle had North Carolina license plates, but wasn't registered to either man.

Troopers searched the car and found 28 kilogram-sized packages of powder cocaine inside a speaker box in the trunk.

Garcia has been sentenced in Shreveport Federal Court to six years in prison, and Martinez will serve just over five years. They've also been sentenced to five years of supervised release.
