Area seniors have special days coming up at a couple of big events. Next Thursday is opening day, and Senior Day, at the State Fair of Louisiana. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., residents 50 and older are invited to the event in the Hirsch Coliseum, where they'll get free parking, free admission to the event and free admission to the State Fair midway...

Prepare for some changes at Sci-Port soon. Louisiana's Science Center will be changing its hours for the fall. But not until the Annual Spiff-Up is complete. Next Monday through Friday -- August 22nd-26th -- and August 29th-September 2nd, Sci-Port will be closed so the staff can polish, repair and get each exhibit ready for the new school year...
