Shreveport’s Barnwell Center Is Getting a Facelift

Changes are on the way for the Barnwell Garden and Art Center in downtown Shreveport.

The complex will no longer be run by the Friends of the Barnwell. The city is planning to use money from the bond issue to pay for some massive renovations at the Riverfront property.

The city will spend more than a million dollars to upgrade the complex. The goal is to create a facility which can host events that will attract more visitors to the riverfront. Structural improvements are planned along with a new air conditioning system. The plan also includes reopening the domed area with native plants and sculptures.
