Expect to see lots of fancy boats roll into town in a couple of weeks.

The 2018 Grand Prix of Louisiana - Outboard Performance Craft U.S. Powerboat Nationals will be held on the Red River, September 1-2, 2018.  “It is a great pleasure to be back in Shreveport-Bossier with the Powerboat Nationals again,” stated Dan Bunting, Race Director.  “The event in 2016 was such a great success and we know 2018 will be even better with all of the festivities the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission has for the community surrounding the Powerboats racing on the Red River.”

The event will happen on the river near the Texas Street Bridge It can be viewed for free from Riverview Park in Shreveport or at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier.  There will be a kid’s zone in Shreveport, live music on both sides, food trucks, the Red River Log Jam Corn-hole Tournament, and a college football viewing area that will broadcast the LSU vs Miami game Sunday night in Riverview Park.   Between races, the crowds will be entertained by water cross (jet ski) racing and hydroflying. The event also includes the Prize Gar Wars Grill Off presented by Shreveport Aquarium, will take place Saturday, September 1 from 1:30-3:00 pm in the courtyard of the Shreveport Aquarium overlooking the Red River.Each of the four chefs will have approximately one hour to create a gar dish for a first place prize of $500.  “We are very excited to have the Powerboat Nationals back on the Red River,” stated Kelly Wells, Executive Director of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission.  “This year is going to be bigger and better with the new events we have added and we are very proud to bring our community this quality event. Spectators will also have the opportunity to attend the Margarita Pour off in the Red River District on Saturday and the Southern Soul Blues Festival at Festival Plaza Sunday.  Both events are within walking distance of Riverview Park.”
