SHREVEPORT, LA-   Arrest made in shooting incident: Convicted Felon in possession of firearm apprehended

On February 7, at approximately 10 A.M., officers from the Shreveport Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 5300 block of Sussex. While responding, officers were informed of a concerning situation involving two individuals engaged in gunfire.

Responding officers took immediate action and successfully apprehended the individuals involved in the altercation. Among those taken into custody were 42-year-old Erol Walter and 32-year-old Orlando Jones.

Following a thorough investigation conducted by the officers, it was determined that Orlando Jones, a convicted felon, was unlawfully in possession of a firearm. As a result, Jones faces charges including one count of a felon in possession of a firearm, one count of illegal use of a weapon, and one count of theft.

Jones was previously arrested in August, 2020 in connection with a beating and armed robbery at the Knight's Inn on Monkhouse.

Erol Walter was also charged in connection with the incident, facing one count of obstruction of justice. Walters’s booking photo is not releasable by law due to being considered a non-violent offense.

Both individuals were promptly booked into the Shreveport City Jail to await further legal proceedings. It is important to note that no injuries were reported as a result of this incident, thanks to the response and effective actions taken by Shreveport Police Officers.
