A couple of sentences have been handed down in Caddo District Court. Tarsa Ray Cooley has been sentenced to mandatory life in prison at hard labor -- without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for the 2008 shooting death of a pawn shop employee. Cooley was convicted by a Caddo Parish jury of second-degree murder last month for the death of Matthew Robert during an attempted robbery at the shop in the 8500 block of Linwood. And Tiray Edwards was sentenced to 20 years in prison at hard labor for armed robbery. Edwards, a co-defendant in the Cooley case, entered a guilty plea in February and agreed to testify in Cooley's trial.
