Northwestern State University Mascot ‘Vic the Demon’ Gets a Facelift
Northwestern State University’s 90-year-old mascot is getting a facelift. The new Vic the Demon will be introduced to the public during the first home football game against Southern University on Saturday, September 7th.
The Demon was selected as the school’s mascot by a student vote in 1923 and acquired the name Vic, short for Victory, in 1984. The Vic in the picture above is how I remember “him” during my stint at NSU from 1989 until 1992.
In anticipation of the new Vic’s appearance, Northwestern State’s Office of Marketing and Branding has created a video on the history of the mascot and how Vic’s look evolved over the decades. Take a look at “Vic – The Next Generation” HERE:
