Cooler weather may be here, but the mosquitoes are still biting.  The State Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed 12 new cases of West Nile virus and two more deaths from the disease.  This brings the total number of cases this year to 356 and 15 deaths.  Five of the new cases were the most serious neuroinvasive disease.  Two of those were in Rapides Parish and there was one case each in Allen, Avoyelles, and Grant Parishes.  Six new West Nile fever cases were reported this week.  Two of those were here in Caddo Parish plus there were two in Rapides and one each in Jefferson and LaSalle parishes.  One new asymptomatic cas was reported this week, in Bossier Parish.
