Should Teens Have Summer Jobs?
The summer job is a rite of passage for most teens. It can also often be a bone of contention between parents, who’d like to see their kids earn money and be responsible when school is out, and children, who would rather enjoy as much time with friends in the sun as they can.
According to a new Rasmussen survey of 1,000 adults, 94 percent think it’s at least somewhat important for teens to get summer jobs. However, this year, parents may cut their kids a little slack if they aren’t able to find summer employment. Eight-four percent of the polls respondents answered that it will be “difficult” for young people to find temporary jobs when school is out because of the bad economy.
