Colorado and Washington passed referendums legalizing marijuana for recreational use. They will become the first states in the country to legalize weed.
The initiatives would allow marijuana to be cultivated and for special stores to sell up to an ounce to individuals 21 and older.

Jurors return to the Caddo district courtroom today to begin the punishment phase of the murder trial of 26-year-old Christopher Cope.

Cope was found guilty of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Shreveport Police Sergeant Tim Prunty two years ago.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Defense lawyers will be trying to get a life sentence.
