I spotted it on the east side of Highland Avenue, about halfway up the block between Dudley and Slattery. It was an orange box, about five feet tall. At first, I thought it was a newspaper box, but then I looked more closely and saw the words, 'Take a book, Leave a book.'

'What is this little street library?', I wondered, so I got out to take a closer look. A box, filled with books! And what a variety! Everything from hard cover novels like Richard Wright's 'Native Son' to the latest copy of WatchTime magazine. And best of all there for the taking! Just one little caveat: Take a book. Leave a book

So, who's responsible for this tiny gem? Are there others like it around town? How many folks use it, much less know it's even there? If you have any information about Shreveport's 'littleist library' get in touch with Erin McCarty or me at 320-5335 or comment below. And for those of you in that part of the Highland area, happy reading! Just remember to leave a book.
