Former Tax Preparer Sentenced

The former owner of a Shreveport tax preparation service has been sentenced for filing fraudulent claims for federal income tax refunds. 41-year-old Letitia Scott of Dallas will be spending the next 27 months in prison and then she’ll be on supervised release for three more years. She’s also been ordered to pay more than $69-thousand in restitution to the IRS. Scott had admitted to preparing and electronically filing 29 fraudulent returns for the 2006 tax year.
