Natchitoches Woman Pleads Guilty to Filing False Tax Returns
A Natchitoches woman has pled guilty to aiding and assisting in making and subscribing a false tax return.
Federal prosecutors say 38-year-old Lashanda Harris was working as a tax preparer in Natchitoches when she assisted customers in preparing false tax returns for tax year 2011. In all, they say those customers were able to obtain over $100,000 in fraudulent tax refunds -- for which, Harris received kickbacks.
She faces up to three years in prison, one year of supervised release, a fine of $250,000 and restitution when she's sentenced in January.
