(Update)  79-year-old Charles L. Smith was found safe and sound during the noon-hour today after a tip to Crime Stoppers brought officers to the 500 block of Texas Street downtown.  

There they found Smith sitting on a bench.  He had been missing for more than a month. Officers say Smith was in good spirits and didn't appear to be suffering any adverse effects from his extended absence.

An elderly Shreveport man has been missing for a month and police are asking the public for help finding him.  

79-year-old Charles L. Smith hasn't been seen since early afternoon on June 27th when he walked away from his home in the 2900 block of Corbitt Street. Police tell me he suffers a medical condition that requires constant medication.  Efforts to locate Smith have been unsuccessful and authorities are concerned about his welfare.

Smith is approximately six feet, five inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.  When last seen, he was wearing a yellow shirt, blue jeans, and black boots.

Police are asking anyone who might have seen Smith or know where he is now to call detectives at 318-673-7020 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
