An East Texas sheriff’s office is trying to get rid of a bunch of donkeys.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office has nine donkeys that were originally up for auction, but no one would buy them and are currently under the care of the office.

The sheriff’s office says that there is no charge to adopt them, but they are at different locations across Bowie County waiting for a home.

Abandoned animals are not uncommon for our region, including Bowie County.  Sheriff’s office officials say 50-60 large animals have been abandoned in Bowie County, including a few horses.
