On 1-10-12, at approximately 4:15 PM, officers of the Texarkana, Texas Police Department responded to the 100 block of Royale St. in reference to a disturbance. 

The first officers on scene discovered that 23-year-old Robert Hamby of Texarkana, Texas, had been stabbed in his left leg with a knife.   This stabbing occurred during a disturbance with Bowie County resident and suspect, 55-year-old James Mayhugh. 

Both the victim and suspect were inside the suspect’s vehicle at the time of the stabbing.  Mayhugh fled the scene, however, he was located at a family member’s home in Bowie County shortly after the incident. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injury and is listed in stable condition.  After his arrest for Aggravated Assault, Mayhugh was booked into jail at the Bi-State Justice Center and is awaiting bond.
