An evening domestic dispute in Shreveport leaves a woman dead and a man, 41-year-old Anton Cooley, in jail.

It started when Shreveport police got a call about shots fired in the 3600 block of Redbud Lane. When officers arrived, they talked to a witness, who reported hearing a woman screaming and at least one gunshot.

Officers found a woman, identified as 41-year-old Karen Johnson, lying under the carport of a home in the 3500 block of Valley View Drive. She'd suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives were able to develop Cooley as the gunman. They believe he and Johnson were involved in an ongoing romantic relationship, and that Cooley shot the woman during some type of domestic dispute.

Cooley was taken into custody without incident and charged with one count of second degree murder.
