Shreveport police are asking for the public's help identifying a carjacking suspect.

The victim tells police he was sitting at the red light at Lakeshore Drive and I-20, when someone in a tan or brown Trailblazer bumped his vehicle from behind. Before he could get out, a gunman approached and demanded his Chevy Tahoe.

A patrol officer was nearby, and followed the stolen SUV, waiting on additional units before activating his lights and sirens. The suspect noticed the marked unit following him and sped away before backup could arrive.

Responding officers intercepted the stolen auto at I-220 and Hilry Huckaby when the driver struck a light pole while turning onto David Raines Road. However, the suspect managed to escape on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'8" and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and black jeans. A firearm was recovered from inside the stolen vehicle.

Anyone with information about this crime should contact Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
