BPCC will celebrate Constitution Day at 9:00 am tomorrow, Wednesday, September 17, 2014, with a special presentation by the world-class BPCC Debate Team.

The event will be held in the Emmett E. Cope Student Services Building (Building F) on the BPCC campus, 6220 E. Texas St., Bossier City, LA.

The debate team’s topic - “Resolved: When in conflict, providing for the common defense is more important than liberty” - is an extremely important issue in our world today.  Debating the affirmative will be Erika Hill, 2013-2014 top ranked community college student in the varsity division of IPDA debate, and debating the negative will be Hannah Morris, the incoming debater for the 2014-2015 season.

Debate Coach Bob Alexander, assistant professor in the Division of Communications and Performing Arts, has led the BPCC Debate Team to 2 national championships.

Constitution Day is a national commemoration. On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created.  Each year, BPCC joins other organizations throughout the United States to celebrate Constitution Day.
