Bossier Parish Community College Chancellor Jim Henderson calls it "a new day in manufacturing."

He's referring to the first graduating class of BPCC's new Certification for Manufacturing (C4M) program. Seventeen students in that program have received both a 12-hour Technical Competency Area (TCA) credential and C4M certificate -- making them eligible for interviews with area industry partners.

C4M consists of four college courses that can be completed in one 16-week semester.  It covers the essential skills needed in the modern manufacturing environment and incorporates class lectures, laboratory work, and independent study.

The C4M students weren't the only ones graduating at today's Summer Commencement.  Associate degrees, technical diplomas, certificates, and technical competency areas were awarded to a total of 136 graduates in BPCC's six academic divisions.
